Inspection procedure

D range shifting function

•  Verify that the vehicle shifts normally during regular driving (general roads in city).

•  Verify that the vehicle speed rises to approx. 80 km/h {50 mph} without an increase in the engine speed to over-rev speed.

D range—L range switching operation

•  When shifting the selector lever to the L range, verify that the vehicle shifts normally.

i.  Decelerate the vehicle without depressing the accelerator pedal.

ii.  When the vehicle speed is decelerated to approx. 40 km/h {25 mph}, shift the selector lever to the L range.

iii.  Verify that the engine speed increases from approx. 1,200 rpm to approx. 3,000 rpm.

Engine braking operation

•  Inspect the engine braking operation while decelerating in the L range.

i.  Shift the selector lever to the L range.

ii.  Decelerate the vehicle speed without depressing the accelerator pedal.

iii.  When the vehicle speed is decelerated to approx. 40 km/h {25 mph, inspect that the engine speed is approx. 3,000 rpm.

Kickdown function

•  Verify that the vehicle accelerates abruptly (kicks down).

i.  The vehicle accelerates abruptly (kicks down) while the vehicle is driven at approx. 60 km/h {37 mph}.

ii.  Verify that the engine speed increases from approx. 4,500 rpm to 5,000 rpm.

P position operation

•   After shifting the selector lever to the P position on a gentle slope, release the brake and verify that the vehicle does not move.

Abnormal noise/vibration

•  Inspect for abnormal noise and vibration when driving and shifting.
