Description

• Door lock-link switch (driver-side) circuit malfunction

Detection Condition

• Lock/unlock signals are input simultaneously for 6 s or more.

Possible Causes

• Front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) connector or terminals malfunction

• Door lock-link switch (driver-side) malfunction

• BCM connector or terminals malfunction

• Short to ground in wiring harness between the following terminals:

― L.H.D.

• Front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) terminal D and BCM terminal 7K

• Front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) terminal B and BCM terminal 7Q

― R.H.D.

• Front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) terminal J and BCM terminal 7K

• Front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) terminal L and BCM terminal 7Q

• Short circuit in lock signal and unlock signal wiring harnesses of front door latch and lock actuator

• BCM malfunction

VERIFY BCM DTCs

•  Clear the DTCs using the M-MDS.
(See CLEARING DTC [BCM].)

•  Perform locking and unlocking operation.

•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
(See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].)

•  Is the same DTC present?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Go to Step 8.

INSPECT FRONT DOOR LATCH AND LOCK ACTUATOR (DRIVER-SIDE) CONNECTOR AND TERMINALS

•  Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.

•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

•  Disconnect the front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) connector.

•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).

•  Is there any malfunction?

Yes

Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 7.

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT DOOR LOCK-LINK SWITCH (DRIVER-SIDE)

•  Inspect the door lock-link switch (driver-side).
(See DOOR LOCK-LINK SWITCH INSPECTION.)

•  Is there any malfunction?

Yes

Replace the front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side), then go to Step 7.

(See FRONT DOOR LATCH AND LOCK ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR AND TERMINALS

•  Disconnect the BCM connector.

•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).

•  Is there any malfunction?

Yes

Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 7.

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT DOOR LOCK-LINK SWITCH (DRIVER-SIDE) CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND

•  Verify that the front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) and BCM connectors are disconnected.

•  Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side) and body ground:

―  L.H.D.

•  Front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) terminal D

•  Front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) terminal B

―  R.H.D.

•  Front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) terminal J

•  Front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) terminal L

•  Is there continuity?

Yes

Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to ground, then go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY FOR SHORT CIRCUIT IN LOCK AND UNLOCK SIGNAL WIRING HARNESSES

•  Verify that the front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) and BCM connectors are disconnected.

•  Inspect for continuity between the following terminal (wiring harness-side):

―  L.H.D.

•  Front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) terminal D and B

―  R.H.D.

•  Front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) terminal J and L

•  Is there continuity?

Yes

Repair or replace the related wiring harness, then go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED

•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.

•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.

•  Clear the DTCs using the M-MDS.
(See CLEARING DTC [BCM].)

•  Perform locking and unlocking operation.

•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
(See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].)

•  Is the same DTC present?

Yes

Repeat the inspection from Step 1.

•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the BCM.
(See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT

•  Are any DTCs present?

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC inspection.

(See DTC TABLE [BCM].)

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.

3	INSPECT DOOR LOCK-LINK SWITCH (DRIVER-SIDE) • Inspect the door lock-link switch (driver-side). (See DOOR LOCK-LINK SWITCH INSPECTION.) • Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Replace the front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side), then go to Step 7. (See FRONT DOOR LATCH AND LOCK ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
3		No	Go to the next step.
4	INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR AND TERMINALS • Disconnect the BCM connector. • Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection). • Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 7.
4		No	Go to the next step.
5	INSPECT DOOR LOCK-LINK SWITCH (DRIVER-SIDE) CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND • Verify that the front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) and BCM connectors are disconnected. • Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side) and body ground: ― L.H.D. • Front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) terminal D • Front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) terminal B ― R.H.D. • Front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) terminal J • Front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) terminal L • Is there continuity?	Yes	Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to ground, then go to the next step.
5		No	Go to the next step.
6	VERIFY FOR SHORT CIRCUIT IN LOCK AND UNLOCK SIGNAL WIRING HARNESSES • Verify that the front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) and BCM connectors are disconnected. • Inspect for continuity between the following terminal (wiring harness-side): ― L.H.D. • Front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) terminal D and B ― R.H.D. • Front door latch and lock actuator (driver-side) terminal J and L • Is there continuity?	Yes	Repair or replace the related wiring harness, then go to the next step.
6		No	Go to the next step.
7	VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED • Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors. • Reconnect the negative battery cable. • Clear the DTCs using the M-MDS.
