Description

•  Interior light circuit malfunction

Detection Condition

•  Short to power supply in wiring harness between interior light and BCM.

Possible Causes

•  Interior light connector or terminals malfunction
•  BCM connector or terminals malfunction
•  Short to power supply in wiring harness between the following terminals:
―  Vehicles with theft-deterrent system
•  Interior light terminal F―BCM terminal 3I
―  Vehicles without theft-deterrent system
•  Interior light terminal C―BCM terminal 3I
•  Interior light malfunction
•  BCM malfunction

VERIFY BCM DTCs
•  Clear the DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 7.

INSPECT INTERIOR LIGHT CONNECTOR AND TERMINALS
•  Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Disconnect the interior light connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR AND TERMINALS
•  Disconnect the BCM connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT INTERIOR LIGHT CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY
•  Verify that the interior light and BCM connectors are disconnected.
•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
•  Measure the voltage at the following terminal (wiring harness-side):
―  Vehicles with theft-deterrent system
•  Interior light terminal F
―  Vehicles without theft-deterrent system
•  Interior light terminal C
•  Is there any voltage?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to power supply, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT INTERIOR LIGHT
•  Inspect the interior light.
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Replace the interior light, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
6
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Clear the DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the BCM.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
7
VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
