SPARK CONTROLLED COMPRESSION IGNITION (SPCCI) [SKYACTIV-X 2.0]

id0110hf010000

Outline

•  SPCCI (Spark Controlled Compression Ignition) is a Mazda-unique combustion system for achieving compression ignition.
•  Resistance loss (pumping loss) reduction by the throttle valve and cooling loss reduction in the combustion process due to a decrease in the combustion temperature have been achieved by burning a lean air-fuel mixture.

Operation

1.  The compressed air is introduced into the cylinder producing a lean air-fuel mixture of the fuel.

2.  The air-fuel mixture during compression is further compressed by flame expansion occurring from the spark plug ignition.

3.  The piston is pressed down to the bottom dead center by the rapid combustion of the air-fuel mixture.
