Purpose, Function

•  The OCV for cylinder deactivation supplies the hydraulic pressure demanded by the switchable HLA to switch the hydraulic transmission passage in the cylinder head during cylinder deactivation.

Construction

•  The OCV for cylinder deactivation consists of the OCV for No.1 cylinder deactivation and OCV for No.4 cylinder deactivation.
•  The OCV for No.1 cylinder deactivation is installed to the engine front cover and the OCV for No.4 cylinder deactivation is installed to the cylinder head.

•  The OCV for cylinder deactivation consists of a filter, valve, check valve, shaft, coil, and armature.

Operation


Cylinder deactivation is not performed

1.  The shaft is pressed up by oil pressure to be added to valve.

2.  By pressing up the shaft, engine oil flow from the engine oil solenoid valve is stopped.

3.  Engine oil entering from the switchable HLA is fed to the drain port while being pressure-adjusted by the check valve.

During cylinder deactivation

1.  The shaft is pressed down by a signal from the PCM.

2.  By pressing down the shaft, the drain port is closed and engine oil flow is stopped.

3.  Engine oil output from the engine oil solenoid valve is fed to the switchable HLA hydraulic passage.
