Warning

• Fuel is highly flammable and dangerous. Fuel line spills and leakage can cause serious injury or death, and damage to equipment. In addition, fuel can also irritate skin and eyes. To prevent this, perform the following inspections with the engine stopped.
• A person charged with static electricity could cause a fire or explosion, resulting in death or serious injury. Before servicing the fuel system, make sure to discharge static electricity by touching a vehicle.
Fuel Leakage Inspection Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)
2. Remove the fuel pump relay.

• Shorting the wrong terminal in the relay and fuse block may cause malfunctions. Make sure to short only the specified terminal.
3. Short fuel pump relay terminal C and terminal D in the relay and fuse block using a jumper wire.
4. Connect the negative battery terminal and operate the fuel pump. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)
5. Verify that there is no fuel leakage at the serviced location.

No leakage after 5 min have elapsed
6. If there is fuel leakage, replace the following parts and perform the fuel leakage inspection procedure again.

• If there is fuel leakage, replace the fuel hose and clips.
• If sealing surface on the fuel pipe side is scratched, replace the fuel pipe.
