Outline

•  The engine intake air passage is switched by opening/closing the fresh-air duct valve.

•  By switching the intake air passage according to the engine operating conditions and optimizing the temperature inside the cylinder, improved fuel economy is achieved.

Operation

•  The PCM opens/closes 2 fresh-air duct valves according to the engine speed and the ambient temperature.

	2,000 rpm or less	2,500 rpm or more
20 °C {68 °F} or less	A	B
25 °C {71 °F} or more	B	B

Condition A:

•  The fresh-air duct valves are operated to conduct warm air from the engine compartment.
