Outline

•  The PCM controls energization to the starter relay according to an immobilizer system request to improve security.
•  When the clutch pedal is not depressed, starter relay energization using the push button start is inhibited. (MTX)
•  While not in P or N position, the starter relay energization by the ignition key is inhibited. (ATX)

Operation


When engine stop request signal received

•  The PCM does not establish a ground with the starter circuit. Therefore, even if the ignition is switched ON (START), the starter motor does not rotate because the starter relay is not energized, and the engine does not start.

When engine stop request signal not received (MTX)

1.  When the BCM detects that the clutch pedal is depressed, it sends (1) a signal to the PCM.

2.  When the ignition is switched ON (START) with the clutch pedal depressed, the PCM establishes (2) a ground with the starter circuit. When a ground with the starter circuit is established, the starter relay is energized and the starter motor rotates. Therefore, the engine starts normally.

3.  The PCM turns the starter relay off with the engine speed at the set value or more (value from engine coolant temperature fluctuates).


When engine stop request signal not received (ATX)

1.  When the selector lever is in the P or N position, the TCM establishes (1) a ground with the selector lever position circuit. When a ground with the selector lever position circuit is established, the PCM and the BCM detect that the selector lever is in the P or N position.

2.  When the ignition is switched ON (START) with the selector lever in the P or N position, the PCM establishes (2) a ground with the starter circuit. When a ground with the starter circuit is established, the starter relay is energized and the starter motor rotates. Therefore, the engine starts normally.
