Operation

Engine coolant temperature condition

•  Output duty ratio is controlled according to the engine coolant temperature.

A/C operation condition

•  When the A/C switch is ON, the PCM determines the airflow volume demand based on the refrigerant pressure and the vehicle speed.

After cooling control

•  The ACC Operates the cooling fan in 2 steps according to the engine coolant temperature.
1st step
―  When the engine coolant temperature is 96 °C {205 °F}} or more with the ignition switched OFF, the cooling fan is operated at a duty ratio of 33% for 8 min.
2nd step
―  When the engine coolant temperature is 106 °C {223 °F} or more after the 1st step is completed, the cooling fan is operated at a duty ratio of 33% until the temperature is less than 106 °C, or a maximum of 4 min have elapsed.

Gasoline particulate filter protection

•  The cooling fan is operated at a duty ratio of 86% during compulsory gasoline particulate filter regeneration.

Conditions during collision

•  If a collision signal from the SAS control module is received, the PCM stops the engine cooling fan to avoid use of battery voltage.
