Outline
• Depending on the engine operation conditions, the PCM controls the coolant control valve opening angle so that the appropriate amount of engine coolant can be sent to the appropriate coolant passage at the appropriate timing.
Block Diagram
Operation
• The PCM controls the coolant control valve opening angle as follows:
Operation conditions
-
Engine coolant passage from cylinder head
-
• Normal circulation flow
-
Engine coolant passage from heater core
-
• Engine coolant temperature 78 °C {172 °F}: Fully open
-
Engine coolant passage from radiator
-
• Engine coolant temperature 105 °C {221 °F}: Fully open
-
Engine coolant passage from ATF cooler
-
• Engine coolant temperature 85 °C {185 °F} and ATF temperature 90 °C {194 °F}: Fully open
• After engine warm-up, the coolant control valve adjusts to the appropriate opening angle to stabilize the engine coolant temperature.
