BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SENSOR INSPECTION [(E)]

Without Mazda M Hybrid
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
(See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)
2. Remove the following parts as a single unit.

3. Remove the battery.

4. Remove the Battery tray and PCM component. (SKYACTIV-G)

5. Set the PCM wiring harness out of the way. (SKYACTIV-G)
6. Remove the Battery tray. (SKYACTIV-D 1.8) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].)
7. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the clip.

8. Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor connector.

9. Inspect for continuity according to fluid level between the brake fluid level sensor terminals.

With Mazda M Hybrid
1. Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
2. Switch the ignition ON (engine off).
3. Verify that the fluid level (PID: BRK_FLD_STAT) changes according to the brake fluid reserve tank fluid level.
