Sunroof Unit

Purpose / Function

•  The glass panel tilts up/down or slides open/closed by the operation of the sunroof unit.

Structure/Construction

•  The sunroof unit consists of the following parts.
―  Sunroof motor with built-in drive gear
―  Slider connected to drive cable
―  Glass panel secured to front guide
―  Frame for assembling sunroof motor, slider, and front guide
•  The drive cables passing through the frame of the sunroof unit are engaged to the sunroof motor drive gear.

Operation

Open operation
1.  By rotating the drive gear in the sunroof motor, the drive cables operate in conjunction with the rotation.
2.  When the drive cables operate, the sliders move to the rear of the front guide grooves, and the front guides and glass panel lower.
3.  When the front guides lower, the securing pins installed to the front guides are released and the glass panel opens by the front guides sliding the frames corresponding to the movement of the sliders.

Operation
1.  By rotating the drive gear in the sunroof motor, the drive cables operate in conjunction with the rotation.
2.  When the drive cables operate, the sliders move forward. Because the securing pins for the front guides are in the frames and the rise in the front guides is suppressed at this time, the slider cannot move in the front guide grooves and the front guides slide.
3.  When the front guides slide to the close positions, the sliders move to the front of the front guide grooves, and the front guides and glass panel rise and close. Due to this, the securing pins are engaged with the frames.

1.  By rotating the drive gear in the sunroof motor, the drive cables operate in conjunction with the rotation.
2.  When the drive cables operate, the sliders move to the front of the front guide grooves, and the front guides and glass panel rise.

Sunroof Motor

Purpose / Function

•  The sunroof motor transmits drive force to the drive cables.
•  When the sunroof motor rotates normally or in reverse, the tilt up and open/close of the glass panel operates.

Construction/Operation

•  The sunroof motor built-in the following parts:
―  CPU
―  Hall effect switch
―  Sunroof relay
―  Motor shaft
―  Gear
•  Two Hall effect switches are provided in the control part.
•  The control module detects the rotation direction, speed and amount based on pulse signals from the two Hall effect switches, and controls the position and static load of the glass panel accordingly.
