TRUNK LID LIGHT (4SD)/LIFTGATE LIGHT (5HB) [(E)]
id0918009032x2
Purpose
• The trunk lid lights are used to signal the following conditions to vehicles/people at the rear.
-
― Back-up lights: Signals that the vehicle is backing up.
― Taillights: Signals the presence of the vehicle during nighttime.
― Rear fog lights: The vehicle's presence is signaled to vehicles at the rear by the illumination of the rear fog light during poor weather conditions such as dense fog. (With rear fog light)
Function
• The back-up lights are illuminated in conjunction with the selector lever (ATX)/shift lever (MTX) operation.
• The taillights are illuminated in conjunction with the light switch operation (TNS (parking lights)).
• When the body control module (BCM) receives a rear fog light on request signal sent via CAN communication from the instrument cluster, it turns the rear fog light on. (with rear fog light)
Construction
• The back-up light bulb/rear fog light bulb is an integrated structure.
• The trunk lid light is integrated with the taillight (LED).
-
Note
-
• Fogging or condensation may occur inside the trunk lid lights, however, it is a natural phenomenon occurring as a result of a temperature difference between the interior and exterior of the trunk lid lights and has no effect on the light performance. Fogging or condensation will dissipate when the temperature inside the trunk lid lights rises after the back-up light is illuminated and a period of time has elapsed.
Operation
Taillights
1. When the light switch is in the TNS (parking lights) position with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on), the instrument cluster detects (1) a TNS (parking lights) signal.
2. The instrument cluster sends (2) the TNS signal to the body control module (BCM) via CAN communication.
3. When the body control module (BCM) receives the TNS signal, it sends (3) a TNS on request signal to the electrical supply unit (ESU) via CAN communication.
4. When the electrical supply unit (ESU) receives the TNS on request signal, it turns the taillights on (4).
Back-up lights
-
ATX
-
1. When the selector lever is in the R position with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on), the TCM sends (1) an R position signal to the PCM via CAN communication.
2. When the PCM receives the R position signal, it sends (2) the signal to the body control module (BCM) via CAN communication.
3. When the body control module (BCM) receives the R position signal, it sends (3) a back-up light on request signal to the electrical supply unit (ESU) via CAN communication.
4. When the electrical supply unit (ESU) receives the back-up light on request signal, it turns the back-up lights on (4).
-
MTX
-
1. When the shift lever is in the reverse position, the back-up light switch turns on (1).
2. When the back-up light switch turns on, the PCM detects (2) a back-up light switch on signal.
3. The PCM sends (3) the back-up light switch on signal to the body control module (BCM) via CAN communication.
4. When the body control module (BCM) receives the back-up light switch on signal, it sends (4) a back-up light on request signal to the electrical supply unit (ESU).
5. When the electrical supply unit (ESU) receives the back-up light on request signal, it turns the back-up lights on (5).
