Detection condition

•  The vehicle control module (VCM) detects that forward sensing camera (FSC) temporary failure for a certain period of time.

Fail-safe

Possible cause

•  Windshield dirty

•  Forward sensing camera (FSC) lens is dirty

•  Driving on roads at night where there are no streetlights or reflective objects

•  Frosted windshield

•  Temporary performance limit

•  Forward sensing camera (FSC) malfunction

•  Vehicle control module (VCM) malfunction (built into body control module (BCM))

Yes

Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY IF WINDSHIELD IS FOGGED OR DIRTY

•  Verify if the windshield is fogged or dirty.

•  Is the windshield fogged or dirty?

Yes

Clear the fogging or remove the dirt from the windshield, then perform the repair completion verification.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) LENS FOGGING OR SOILING

•  Verify if the forward sensing camera (FSC) lens is fogged or dirty.

•  Is the forward sensing camera (FSC) lens fogged or dirty?

Yes

Clear the fogging or wipe off the soiling from the forward sensing camera (FSC) and perform the repair completion verification.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY AGAIN IF THERE IS FOG OR SOILING ON WINDSHIELD, FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY

•  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.

•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
(See CLEARING DTC.)

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM).
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Is the same Pending DTC present?

Yes

Clear the fogging or remove the dirt from the windshield, forward sensing camera (FSC) lens, then go to the next step.

No

Go to repair completion verification 2.

INSPECT FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) FOR MALFUNCTION DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY

•  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.

•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
(See CLEARING DTC.)

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM).
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Is the same Pending DTC present?

Yes

Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.

(See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [(E)].)

If the CAN communication is normal, replace the forward sensing camera (FSC) and perform the repair completion verification.

No

Go to repair completion verification 2.

VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED

•  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.

•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM).
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Is the same Pending DTC present?

Yes

Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.

(See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [(E)].)

If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.

•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the body control module (BCM), then go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

Repair completion verification 2

VERIFY IF OTHER DTC IS DISPLAYED

•  Perform the DTC inspection.
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Are any other DTCs displayed?

Yes

Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.
