INTELLIGENT SPEED ASSISTANCE (ISA) [(E)]
id1510000047a4
Outline
• The Intellifent Speed Assistance (ISA) is a function which keeps the vehicle speed below the speed limit set from a speed limit sign or an optionally set speed limit. If the vehicle speed exceeds the set speed limit while driving on steep slopes, the system notifies the driver using the display and a warning sound.
-
Warning
-
• If the driver is changed and the new driver is unaware of the Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) function, the vehicle may not accelerate when the driver depresses the accelerator pedal, keading to an accident. Depending on the weather conditions or problems with traffic signs, a traffic sign may not be recognized or a traffic sign different from the actual traffic sign may be displayed. Always make it your responsibility as a driver to check the actual traffic signs. Otherwixse, it could result in an accident.
-
Note
-
• The Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) recognizes a speed limit sign based on the Traffic Sign Recognition System (TSR) or the navigation system information.

Functions
• The Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) detects the vehicle speed. If the vehicle speed exceeds the set speed limit or the speed limit set from a speed limit sign, the system notifies the driver using the display and a warning sound.
System conditions display function
-
• The body control module (BCM) displays the system status using the Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) standby indication (white)/set indication (green) on the multi-information display and active driving display.

If the vehicle speed exceeds the set speed by approx. 5 km/h {3 mph} or more, the ISA display flashes.
The display flashes until the vehicle speed decreases to the set speed or less.
A warning beep is activated at the same time as the warinig display.

Operation
• When all of the following conditions are met, the Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) function goes on standby.
-
― The ignition is switched on
― The Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) system is activated
-
Note
-
• When the LIM switch is pressed while the ISA standby indication (white) and ISA set indication (green) are not displayed, the system activates.
• WHen the LIM switch is pressed while the ISA standby indication (white) or ISA set indication (green) are displayed, the system deactivates.
― All door are closed.
― The driver’s seat belt is fastened.
• If any of the following conditions is met, the Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) function is canceled.
-
― CANCEL switch is operated.
― Accelerator pedal is strongly depressed.
― Any door is opened.
― The driver’s seat belt is unfastened.
Excessive speed warning function operation (based on the set speed)
-
1. The instrument cluster sends (1) a LIM switch signal and a RES switch up (SET+)/down (SET-) signal to the body control module (BCM).
2. The body control module (BCM) recognizes the set speed based on the signal from the instrument cluster.
-
Note
-
• The speed limit can be set
between 30 and 200 km/h {19-125 mph}.
When the current vehicle speed is less than 30 km/h {19 mph}, the speed is set to 30 km/h {19 mph}.
3. The body control module (BCM) sends (2) a ISA standby indication or set indication request signal to the instrument cluster and active driving display.
4. The instrument cluster and active driving display display (3) the ISA standby indication (white) or ISA set indication (green).
5. When the body control module (BCM) determines the vehicle speed exceed the set speed, it sends (4) a ISA indication flash request to the instrument cluster and active driving display.
-
Note
-
• The range of speed that can exceed the set speed can be changed.
6. The instrument cluster and active driving display flashes (5) the ISA indication.
Excessive speed warning function operation (based on the speed limit sign)
-
1. The forward sensing camera (FSC) sends (1) a speed limit sign signal to the body control module (BCM).
2. The connectivity master unit (CMU) sends (1) a speed limit signal to the body control module (BCM).
3. The body control module (BCM) recognizes the speed limit based on the signal from the forward sensing camera (FSC) and connectivity master unit (CMU).
-
Note
-
• If the RES switch is pressed while the ISA set indication (green) is displayed on the instrument cluster and active driving display, the set speed limit changes to the speed of the displayed speed limit sign.
4. When the body control module (BCM) determines the vehicle speed exceed the speed limit, it sends (2) a ISA indication flash request to the instrument cluster and active driving display.
5. The instrument cluster and active driving display flashes (3) the ISA indication.
