DRIVE BELT AUTO TENSIONER INSPECTION [MZR-CD 2.2]

1.  Remove the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR-CD 2.2].)

2.  Remove the bolt inserted to the drive belt auto tensioner.

3.  Verify that the drive belt auto tensioner moves smoothly in the operational direction.

•  Replace the drive belt auto tensioner if necessary. (See Drive Belt Auto Tensioner Removal Note.) (See Drive Belt Auto Tensioner Installation Note.)

4.  Turn the drive belt auto tensioner pulley by hand and verify that it rotates smoothly.

•  Replace the drive belt auto tensioner if necessary. (See Drive Belt Auto Tensioner Removal Note.) (See Drive Belt Auto Tensioner Installation Note.)

5.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

Drive Belt Auto Tensioner Removal Note

1.  Remove the generator installation bolts and set the generator out of the way. (See GENERATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR-CD 2.2].)

2.  Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector and front harness-short cord connector.

3.  Remove the nut shown in the figure and set the cooler hose (LO) out of the way.

4.  Remove the crankshaft pulley cover and crankshaft pulley. (See FRONT OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT [MZR-CD 2.2].)

5.  Remove the drive belt auto tensioner using the following procedure.

A type

1.  Remove the drive belt auto tensioner. (See TIMING CHAIN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR-CD 2.2].)

B type

1.  Remove the drive belt auto tensioner installation bolt and nuts.

2.  Remove the drive belt auto tensioner stud bolts.

3.  Remove the drive belt auto tensioner.

Drive Belt Auto Tensioner Installation Note

1.  Install the drive belt auto tensioner using the following procedure.

A type

1.  Install the drive belt auto tensioner. (See TIMING CHAIN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR-CD 2.2].)

B type

1.  Align the drive belt auto tensioner with the installation position and install the stud bolts.

Tightening torque

3.4—4.9 N·m {35—49 kgf·cm, 31—43 in·lbf}

2.  Temporarily tighten the drive belt auto tensioner installation bolt and nuts.

3.  Tighten the drive belt auto tensioner installation bolt and nuts.

Tightening torque

8—11 N·m {82—112 kgf·cm, 71—97 in·lbf}

Note

•  Verify that the stud bolt shown in the figure do not interfere with the drive belt auto tensioner.

2.  Install the crankshaft pulley cover and crankshaft pulley. (See FRONT OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT [MZR-CD 2.2].)

3.  Install the nut shown in the figure.

4.  Connect the camshaft position sensor connector and front harness-short cord connector.
