VARIABLE SWIRL CONTROL OPERATION [L3 Turbo]

id0140b6171100

Operation Conditions

•  When all of the following conditions are met, the PCM energizes the coil of variable swirl solenoid valve. As a result, negative pressure is introduced to the diaphragm chamber of the variable swirl shutter valve actuator, pulling the actuator rod and closing the variable swirl shutter valve.
―  Engine coolant temperature: less than 0 °C {32 °F} or warm-up promotion spark retard correction: more than specification
―  Engine speed is less than 3,250 rpm
―  Engine load: threshold or less

Inhibition Conditions

•  When a DTC for the engine coolant temperature sensor or MAF sensor or BARO sensor has been stored, the variable swirl control is inhibited and the variable swirl shutter valve is constantly open.
