•  In the case of vehicles with common rail injection systems electrically-controlled pilot injection occurs at a set interval prior to the main injection event.
Thanks to pilot injection, the rise in combustion pressure is more gentle (pre-conditioning of the combustion chamber).
The effect this has on the combustion process helps reduce combustion noise (knocking), fuel consumption and exhaust emissions even further.
