ADVANCED PUSH BUTTON START SYSTEM OPERATION
id091400596200
Engine Starting/Stopping
• The engine can be started by operating the push button start with the advanced key carried, not by inserting the key.
Start conditions
1. When the clutch pedal (MTX)/brake pedal (ATX) is depressed, a clutch pedal (MTX)/brake pedal (ATX) signal is input to the keyless control module.
-
• If the keyless control module determines that the engine can be started, the keyless indicator lamp (green) in the instrument cluster and push button start indicator lamp (green illuminate).
2. When the push button start is pressed, the push button start switch signal is input to the keyless control module.
3. The keyless control module transmits a request signal via all the keyless antennas in the vehicle.
4. The advanced key receives the request signal from the inside antenna, and transmits ID data to the keyless receiver.
5. The keyless receiver transmits the received ID data to the keyless control module.
6. When a programmed advanced key is inside the cabin, the keyless control module releases the steering lock unit and the engine can be started.
-
― If the ID verification is not acceptable (for reasons such as an unprogrammed advanced key, or advanced key battery depletion), the steering lock unit lock is not released and the keyless warning light (red) and the push start indicator light (red) flash to indicate that the push button start is inoperable.
― If the steering lock unit release fails due to pressure from the steering shaft, the buzzer in the instrument cluster activates and the electric steering lock indicator light (amber) flashes.
Stop conditions
-
• The engine stops by pressing the push button start while the engine is running and the vehicle is stopped (vehicle speed is 0 km/h {0 mph}).
Engine Emergency Stop Operation (Fail-safe Function)
• To stop the engine immediately, press the push button start for approx. 3 s or more, or press the push button start at least three times within approx. 1.5 s. However, while the vehicle is being driven the ignition switches to ACC and after the vehicle stops, the ignition switches off.
Back-up Mode (MTX only)
• If the keyless control module determines that either the clutch pedal position switch or starter interlock switch is malfunctioning, the system switches to back-up mode.
• While in back-up mode the security light (red) in the instrument cluster illuminates and the push button start indicator light flashes red when one of the following occurs:.
• If the push button start is pressed when all the following conditions are met while in the back-up mode, the remote transmitter authorization is performed and the engine starts.
-
― Either the clutch pedal position switch or starter interlock switch is on (clutch pedal is depressed)
― The shift lever is in the neutral position (neutral switch is on)
― Advanced key is within request signal output range of keyless antennas in vehicle interior
