DISCHARGE HEADLIGHT OPERATION
id091800103500
1. A high voltage pulse (alternating current approx. 25,000 V) traveling from the discharge headlight control module is applied between both discharge headlight terminals, energizing the xenon gas in the bulb.
2. Due to the energizing of the xenon gas, the temperature of the discharge headlight interior increases, vaporizing the mercury and discharging an arc.
3. Due to the mercury and discharging the arc, the temperature of the discharge headlight interior increases further, metallic iodide is vaporized and separated, and metallic atoms are discharged, producing light.

Headlight HI/LO Switching Mechanism
Low-beam illuminated
1. The shade covers light in the high-beam region to block light aimed in the upward direction. As a result, light aimed in the downward direction is distributed by the reflector to emit low-beam light in the forward direction.

High-beam illuminated
1. If a HI or passing signal is output by the headlight switch, the high-beam solenoid energizes to press in the lower part of the shade via its sliding part.

2. The shade rotates downward.
3. The shaded area of the high-beam light is emitted as a result of the rotation of the shade.
