AFS (ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM) CONTROL MODULE FUNCTION
id091800692900
• The AFS control module has the following functions.
-
― Auto headlight leveling function
― Swivel function
― Initial Setting Function
― On-board diagnostic system (fail-safe function)
• Auto headlight leveling function
-
― Calculates the target optical axis against changes in the vehicle attitude determined by the front and rear auto leveling sensors.
-
― Controls the headlight leveling actuator relative to the target optical axis according to the driving conditions determined by the rate of vehicle speed and acceleration.
• Swivel function
-
― The swivel angle of the headlight is calculated based on the vehicle speed signal and steering angle sensor signal while the vehicle is driven, to determine an optimal adjustment (swivel control) value for the optical axis.
-
― The swivel actuator operates based on the adjustment value of the optical axis.
• Initial Setting Function
-
― When the engine speed is 500rpm or more, perform the swivel angle initialization after the ignition is switched ON.
-
― First, swivel the left/right headlights 5 degrees to the inside from the initial position, then firmly swivel them to the stopper position. Read the Hall sensor value and if it is within the specification, the initialization is finished.
-
― If it is not within the specification, determine the cause as a fail-safe error and switch to fail-safe control.
• On-board diagnostic system
-
― Malfunction Detection Function
Detects overall malfunctions in the AFS-related parts.
-
― Fail-safe Function
If the adaptive front lighting system performance/function cannot be maintained for some reason, the system control is stopped or the system operation is restricted to a level which does not cause a loss in vehicle operability. At this time, the AFS OFF light flashes.
