Rear vehicle monitoring system operation conditions
• The rear vehicle monitoring system activates (standby condition) when the RVM switch is turned on after the engine is started.
• Detection begins when the rear vehicle monitoring system is operating and after the vehicle speed exceeds approx. 60 km/h {37 mph}.
• Detection stops when the vehicle speeds is approx. 60 km/h {37 mph} or less. However, the RVM indicator light (green) in the instrument cluster remains illuminated.
Rear vehicle monitoring system stop conditions
• If the RVM switch is pressed again while the rear vehicle monitoring system is on, the RVM indicator light (green) in the instrument cluster turns off and the rear vehicle monitoring system is stopped.
Monitored areas
• The monitored areas are called the detection area and the blind-spot area.

― The detection area covers an area extending from the vehicle's B-pillar trim to a distance of approx. 50 m {164 ft} from the rear of the vehicle, and the blind-spot area extends to a distance of approx. 10 m {33 ft} from the vehicle rear.
Target vehicle detection
• Target vehicles are detected as follows:

― Target vehicle in vehicle's blind-spot area. (

― Target vehicle enters detection area close to vehicle within
approx. 5 s

Target vehicle detected in vehicle's blind-spot area

• RVM warning indicator light illuminates on blind-spot area side where target vehicle exists.
Target vehicle detected as entering detection area close to vehicle within approx. 5 s

• The RVM warning indicator light illuminates on the side where the target vehicle has entered the detection area.

• When the turn light switch in turned on to the side where a target vehicle has been detected, the warning is activated as follows:

― RVM warning indicator light flashes on side where target vehicle has entered vehicle's blind-spot area
― Warning chime in instrument cluster sounds
Target vehicle detected as entering detection area close to vehicle within approx. 5 s
