1. Belt tension decreases.
2. The rod and plunger of the auto tensioner is pressed up by the spring pressure.
3. The tensioner pulley moves upward.
4. As the same time the rod is pressed up by the spring pressure, a oil pressure is applied to the upper part of the ball, and the oil flows from B to A through the passage in the rod and plunger.
Engine hot
1. Belt tension increases due to the expansion of the engine.
2. The tensioner pulley is pressed.
3. The rod and plunger of the auto tensioner moves downward.
4. The ball is pressed up by the high pressure in A and the passage is closed, and the rod and plunger is fixed.
