• To reduce engine noise from vibration of the crankshaft and cylinder block, as well as for weight reduction, an aluminum alloy oil pan upper block has been adopted.
• Slight shudder in the skirt area and fore/aft vibration of the main bearings have been reduced by the consolidation of the oil pan upper block and main bearing caps, and the cylinder block skirt. Rigidity of the engine and transmission joint has also increased by the consolidation of the transmission and oil pan block, reducing vibration of the overall power plant.
