THERMOSTAT INSPECTION[MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)]

1.  Remove the thermostat housing. (See THERMOSTAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)].)

2.  Immerse the thermostat housing and thermostat in a water and antifreeze mixture.

3.  Heat the fluid mixture to more than 88 °C (190 °F). At this temperature the thermostat should begin to open.

•  If it does not begin to open, install a new thermostat and thermostat housing. (See THERMOSTAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)].)
