Construction

•  Consists of the body, rod, diaphragm chamber and spring.

Operation

•  Normally, the spring force presses against the rod, keeping the valve open. When vacuum is applied to the diaphragm chamber from the vacuum chamber, the rod is pulled, closing the control valve.
