Note
-
• The copper sealing rings must not be reused.
• Refer to the current service literature for the exact details on correct installation of the shaft seals and the plastic washers.
• The injectors are actuated directly by the PCM.
• The injectors are secured by means of the fixing pieces, which are each attached via two nuts to the upper part of the cylinder head.
• The fuel return lines are secured via clips on the upper side of the injectors.
• When the injectors are installed the connections of the high-pressure fuel lines must point towards the valve cover.
• The seal to the upper part of the cylinder head is provided by means of a radial oil seal and a plastic washer, which are inserted into the upper part of the cylinder head using a special tool.

Fuel Injector Calibration Code (Injector Correction Factor)
• Inside the hydraulic servo system are various restrictions with extremely small diameters which have manufacturing tolerances.
These manufacturing tolerances are given as part of an fuel injector calibration code which is located on the outside of the fuel injector.
To ensure optimum fuel metering, the PCM must be informed of a change of fuel injector.
Furthermore, once new PCM software has been loaded via Mazda Modular Diagnostic System (M-MDS), the fuel injectors must also be configured.
This is done by inputting the eight digit fuel injector calibration code (divided into two blocks of four on the fuel injector) into the PCM by means of Mazda Modular Diagnostic System (M-MDS) and taking into account the corresponding cylinder.
• If the fuel injector calibration codes are not entered properly with Mazda Modular Diagnostic System (M-MDS), the following faults can occur:
-
― Increased black smoke formation,
― Irregular idling,
― Increased combustion noise.
• It is not necessary to configure the 9th digit (Ex: 2) of the fuel injector calibration code as it is the fuel injector grade identification code.
