BRAKE PEDAL POSITION (BPP) SWITCH INSPECTION[MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)]

Caution
•  Inspect the BPP switch with it installed to the brake pedal, otherwise the BPP switch may not operate normally. If the BPP switch is removed from the brake pedal, replace the BPP switch with a new one.
Note
•  Before performing the following inspection, make sure to follow the procedure as indicated in the troubleshooting flowchart. (See HOW TO USE THIS MANUAL.)

Continuity Inspection

1.  Remove the lower panel.

2.  Remove the column cover.

3.  Disconnect the BPP switch connector.

4.  Verify that the continuity between BPP switch terminals A and B is as indicated in the table.

•  If it is not as indicated in the table, replace the BPP switch.
•  If the monitor item condition/specification (reference) is not within the specification, even though there is no malfunction, perform the “Circuit Open/Short Inspection”.

Circuit Open/Short Inspection

1.  Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.

2.  Inspect the following wiring harness for open or short circuit (continuity check).

Open circuit

•  If there is no continuity, there is an open circuit. Repair or replace the wiring harness.
―  BPP switch terminal A and instrument cluster terminal 2M
―  BPP switch terminal B and body ground


Short circuit

•  If there is continuity, there is a short circuit. Repair or replace the wiring harness.
―  BPP switch terminal A and power supply
―  BPP switch terminal A and body ground
―  BPP switch terminal B and power supply
