DRIVE SHAFT JOURNAL INSPECTION

Drive Shaft (LH)

1. Remove the drive shaft (LH) from the vehicle.

Note

• For the drive shaft (LH) removal procedure from the vehicle, verify the Workshop Manual.

2. Measure the outer diameter of the drive shaft (LH) journal.

Note

• When measuring, measure near the center of the journal, and then calculate the average value of the X and Y directions as shown in the figure.

• Recommended measuring instrument: Micrometer

• The outer diameter of the journal differs depending on the vehicle model.

Minimum:

Type A: 29.959 mm {1.1795 in}

Type B: 33.459 mm {1.3173 in}

• If it is less than the minimum specification, disassemble the drive shaft (LH) and replace the outer ring with a new one.

Drive Shaft (RH) (Drive Shaft and Joint Shaft are Integrated)

1. Remove the drive shaft (RH) from the vehicle.

Note

• For the drive shaft (RH) removal procedure from the vehicle, verify the Workshop Manual.

2. Measure the outer diameter of the drive shaft (RH) journal.

Note

• When measuring, measure near the center of the journal, and then calculate the average value of the X and Y directions as shown in the figure.

Type A: 29.944 mm {1.1789 in}

Type B: 33.444 mm {1.3167 in}

• If it is less than the minimum specification, disassemble the drive shaft (RH) and replace the outer ring with a new one.

Joint Shaft (Drive Shaft and Joint Shaft are Separate)

1. Remove the joint shaft from the vehicle.

• For the joint shaft removal procedure from the vehicle, verify the Workshop Manual.

2. Measure the outer diameter of the joint shaft journal.

Note

• When measuring, measure near the center of the journal, and then calculate the average value of the X and Y directions as shown in the figure.

• Recommended measuring instrument: Micrometer

• The outer diameter of the journal differs depending on the vehicle model.
