Purpose/Function
• The electric parking brake indicator light and electric parking brake warning light notify the driver that the vehicle is under the following conditions.

― Electric parking brake indicator light

• The electric parking brake is operating.
• There is a malfunction in the electric parking brake system.
― Electric parking brake warning light
-
• There is a malfunction in the electric parking brake system.
• The mode is switched to the maintenance mode.
• The mode is switched to the electric parking brake inspection mode.
Construction/Operation
• The electric parking brake indicator light and electric parking brake warning light are integrated with the instrument cluster.
• When the ignition is switched ON and if the system and CAN line of the electric parking brake are normal, the electric parking brake indicator light and electric parking brake warning light turn on for an open-circuit check and turn off after approx. 3 s. At this time, when the electric parking brake is operating, the electric parking brake indicator light remains turned on. However, if the electric parking brake is released, the light turns off.
• When the electric parking brake is operating, released, or malfunctioning, the electric parking brake indicator light and electric parking brake warning light operate as indicated in the table below.

• The electric parking brake control module sends a electric parking brake indicator light on request signal during the electric parking brake operation. When the instrument cluster receives the electric parking brake indicator light on request signal, the transistor is turned on and the electric parking brake indicator light turns on.
• If there is a malfunction in the electric parking brake, the electric parking brake control module sends the electric parking brake warning light on request signal and electric parking brake indicator light on request signal. When the instrument cluster receives the electric parking brake warning light on request signal and electric parking brake indicator light on request signal, the transistor is turned on and the electric parking brake indicator light and electric parking brake warning light turn on.
• If there is a malfunction in the electric parking brake, the electric parking brake control module sends a electric parking brake indicator light flash request signal. When the instrument cluster receives the electric parking brake indicator light flash request signal, the transistor is turned on intermittently and the electric parking brake indicator light flashes.
