With Steering Warmer System

Note

•  The steering wheel cover is integrated with the steering wheel.

•  For the steering wheel cover removal/installation, refer to the steering wheel and column removal/installation. (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Without Steering Warmer System

Warning

•  Handling the driver-side air bag module improperly can accidentally deploy the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the air bag module. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS.) (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS.)

Note

•  When removing the driver-side air bag module, it is necessary to rotate the steering wheel. If the ignition has been switched off with the driver's door closed, the steering wheel will be locked. Perform the procedure from Steps 1-3 so that the steering wheel will not be locked.

1.  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).

2.  Open the driver's door.

3.  Switch the ignition off.

4.  Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) 5.  Remove the driver-side air bag module. (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL.) (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION.)

6.  Remove the steering switch. (With steering switch) (See STEERING SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

7.  Remove the steering wheel side cover. (With steering wheel side cover) (See STEERING WHEEL SIDE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

8.  Remove the steering wheel bezel. (See STEERING WHEEL BEZEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

9.  Remove the steering wheel. (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

10.  Remove the steering shift switch. (With steering shift switch) (See STEERING SHIFT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [FW6A-EL].) (See STEERING SHIFT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [GW6A-EL].) (See STEERING SHIFT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [CW6A-EL].) (See STEERING SHIFT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [EW6A-EL].)

11.  While pressing tabs A in the directions of arrows (1) shown in the figure, press the steering wheel cover in the direction of arrow (2) to detach tabs A from the steering wheel.

12.  Press the steering wheel cover in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure, detach pins A from the steering wheel, and remove the steering wheel cover from the steering wheel. (With steering shift switch)

13.  While pressing tabs B and C in the directions of arrows (3) and (4) shown in the figure, press the steering wheel cover in the direction of arrow (2) to detach tabs B and C, and pins A from the steering wheel. (Without steering shift switch)

14.  Remove the steering wheel cover from the steering wheel while pulling pins B out. (Without steering shift switch)

15.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
