OCCUPANCY SENSOR INSPECTION

Warning
•  Handling a side air bag improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings/cautions in the Workshop Manual before handling the front seat (side air bag integrated). (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS.) (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS.)
Note
•  If cargo is put on the sensor detection area of the occupancy sensor, the sensor may respond.

1.  Switch the ignition off.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [MZR 1.6].)(See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

3.  Remove the passenger-side front seat. (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Disconnect the occupancy sensor connector.

5.  Verify that the continuity between the occupancy sensor terminals is as indicated in the table.

•  If not as indicated in the table, replace the passenger-side front seat cushion pad. (See FRONT SEAT CUSHION TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
