TACHOMETER
id092200032600
Purpose
• The tachometer notifies the driver of the engine speed. In addition, it warns the driver to change gears using the red zone, which indicates that the engine is running at excess engine speed, and the striped zone, which indicates that the engine is on the verge of running at excess engine speed.
Function
Type A instrument cluster
• The instrument cluster controls the tachometer needle based on the engine speed signal from the PCM and displays the engine speed per minute.
Type B, Type C instrument cluster
• The instrument cluster displays the engine speed per minute based on the engine speed signal from the PCM.
Construction
Type A instrument cluster
• An analog needle display tachometer with a stepping motor mechanism has been adopted.
• The striped zone, which indicates that the engine is on the verge of running at excess speed, and the red zone, which indicates the engine is running at excess speed, are printed on the tachometer.
Type B, Type C instrument cluster
• A digital display tachometer has been adopted.
• The tachometer displays a striped zone, which indicates that the engine is on the verge of running at excess speed, and the red zone, which indicates the engine is running at excess speed.
Operation
Type A instrument cluster
• The instrument cluster receives (1) the engine speed signal from the PCM when the ignition is switched ON (engine on).
• The instrument cluster moves the needle based on the engine speed signal and displays (2) the current engine speed.
Type B, Type C instrument cluster
• The instrument cluster receives (1) the engine speed signal from the PCM when the ignition is switched ON (engine on).
• The instrument cluster displays (2) the current engine speed based on the engine speed signal.
Fail-safe
• Function not equipped.
