Resistance Inspection

Warning
•  Handling the driver-side air bag module improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings and cautions before handling the air bag module. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS.) (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS.)

1.  Switch the ignition off.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [MZR 1.6].)

3.  Remove the driver-side air bag module. (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL.) (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the steering wheel. (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Measure the resistance between cruise control switches 3E and 3A under the following conditions:

•  Resistance with MRCC OFF switch/CANCEL switch pressed and held
―  0 ohms

•  Resistance with SET (+) switch pressed and held
―  187.7—191.3 ohms
am3zzw00019718
•  Resistance with MRCC ON switch/MODE switch pressed and held
―  323.3—329.7 ohms
am3zzw00019719
•  Resistance with RESUME switch pressed and held
―  501.5—511.5 ohms
am3zzw00019720
•  Resistance with DISTANCE (+) switch pressed and held
―  753.9—769.1 ohms
am3zzw00019721
•  Resistance with DISTANCE (-) switch pressed and held
―  1,140.0—1,163.0 ohms
am3zzw00019722
•  Resistance with any switches not pressed
―  3,268.5—3,344.5 ohms
