Remarks

Emission control and related systems
•  The ignition and fuel systems are highly important to the emission control system and to efficient engine operation.
All inspections and adjustments must be made by an expert repairer, we recommend an Authorized Mazda Repairer.
•  After the prescribed period, continue to follow the described maintenance at the recommended intervals.
•  Refer below for a description of items marked* in the maintenance chart.
*1: Also inspect and adjust the power steering and air conditioner drive belts, if installed.
If the vehicle is operated primarily under any of the following conditions, inspect the drive belts at every 20,000 km (12,500 miles) or 12 months except MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6) engines. Inspect them more often than the recommended intervals for MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6) engines.
a.  Driving in dusty conditions
b.  Extended periods of idling or low speed operation
c.  Driving for long period in cold temperatures or driving regularly at short distance only
d.  Driving in extremely hot conditions
e.  Driving in mountainous conditions continually
*2: In the countries below, inspect the spark plugs at every 20,000 km (12,500 miles) or 12 months before replacing them at the said interval.
Croatia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, Moldova
*3: If the vehicle is operated in very dusty or sandy areas, clean and if necessary, replace the air cleaner element more often than the recommended intervals.
*4: Replacement of the timing belt is required at every 200,000 km (125,000 miles) or 10 years. Failure to replace the timing belt may result in damage to the engine.
*5: Implement the fuel injection amount correction.
*6: If the vehicle is operated primarily under any of the following conditions, replace the engine oil and oil filter at every 10,000 km (6,250 miles) or shorter.
a.  Driving in dusty conditions
b.  Extended periods of idling or low speed operation
c.  Driving for long period in cold temperatures or driving regularly at short distance only
d.  Driving in extremely hot conditions
e.  Driving in mountainous conditions continually
*7: For MZR-CD 2.2 engine, reset the engine oil data after replacing the engine oil.
*8: Use FL22 type coolant in vehicles with the inscription “FL22” on the radiator cap itself or the surrounding area. Use FL22 when replacing the coolant.
*9: If the brakes are used extensively (for example, continuous hard driving or mountain driving) or if the vehicle is operated in extremely humid climates, replace the brake fluid annually.
*10:Check the tire repair fluid expiration date every year when performing the periodic maintenance. Replace the tire repair fluid bottle with new one before the expiration date.

If the vehicle is operated primarily under any of the following conditions, inspect the drive belts more often than the recommended intervals.
a.  Driving in dusty conditions
b.  Extended periods of idling or low speed operation
c.  Driving for long period in cold temperatures or driving regularly at short distance only
d.  Driving in extremely hot conditions
e.  Driving in mountainous conditions continually
*3: In the countries below, inspect the spark plugs at every 10,000 km (6,250 miles) or 12 months before replacing them at the said interval.
Georgia, Armenia, Vietnam, Iraq, Cambodia.
*4: Replacement of the timing belt is required at every 200,000 km (125,000 miles) or 10 years. Failure to replace the timing belt may result in damage to the engine.
*5: Implement the fuel injection amount correction.
*6: If the vehicle is operated primarily under any of the following conditions, replace the engine oil and oil filter more often than the recommended intervals.
a.  Driving in dusty conditions
b.  Extended periods of idling or low speed operation
c.  Driving for long period in cold temperatures or driving regularly at short distance only
d.  Driving in extremely hot conditions
e.  Driving in mountainous conditions continually
*7: For R2 engine, reset the engine oil data after replacing the engine oil.
*8: Use FL22 type coolant in vehicles with the inscription "FL22" on the radiator cap itself or the surrounding area. Use FL22 when replacing the coolant.
*9: If the vehicle is operated in very dusty or sandy areas, clean and if necessary, replace the air filter more often than the recommended intervals.
*10: If the vehicle is operated in extremely heat and extremely cold areas, inspect the battery electrolyte level and specific gravity at every 10,000 km (6,250 miles) or 6 months.
*11: If the brakes are used extensively (for example, continuous hard driving or mountain driving) or if the vehicle is operated in extremely humid climates, replace the brake fluid annually.
*12: Check the tire repair fluid expiration date every year when performing the periodic maintenance. Replace the tire repair fluid bottle with new one before the expiration date.
