FRONT OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT [MZ-CD 1.6]

Note
•  In order to perform the work the vehicle lifted, first install the No.3 engine mount bracket and No.3 engine mount rubber.

1.  Remove the timing belt. (See TIMING BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6].)

2.  Remove in the order indicated in the table.

3.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

Front Oil Seal Removal Note

Note
•  In order to perform the work with the vehicle lifted, first install the No.3 engine mount bracket and No.3 engine mount rubber.

1.  Install the No.3 engine mount bracket.

Tightening torque
55 N·m {5.6 kgf·m, 41 ft·lbf}

2.  Install the No.3 engine mount rubber.

Tightening torque
75—104 N·m {7.7—10 kgf·m, 56—76 ft·lbf}

3.  Remove the engine jack and attachment.

4.  Remove the front oil seal using a flathead screwdriver with the tip protected by a rag.


Front Oil Seal Installation Note

Note
•  A new front oil seal is supplied with an alignment and protection sleeve that will be pushed out during installation.

1.  Apply clean engine oil to a new front oil seal.

2.  Install the front oil seal using the SST.

3.  Secure the engine and the transaxle using an engine jack and attachment.

4.  Remove the No.3 engine mount bracket and No.3 engine mount rubber.
