ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5, MZR 1.6]

Warning

•  When the engine is hot, it can badly burn. Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before removing the ECT sensor.

1.  Remove the battery cover. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5, MZR 1.6].)

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5, MZR 1.6].)

3.  Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [MZR 1.5, MZR 1.6].)

4.  Perform the following procedure for easier access.

Except U.K. specs.

1.  Remove the air cleaner cover. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5, MZR 1.6].)

U.K. specs.

1.  Remove the battery and battery tray. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5, MZR 1.6].)

5.  Disconnect the ECT sensor connector.

6.  Remove the ECT sensor using the SST.

7.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

8.  Refill the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [MZR 1.5, MZR 1.6].)
