Resistance Inspection

Warning
•  A hot engine can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before removing the ECT sensor.

1.  Remove the battery cover. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.0 DISI i-stop].)

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.0 DISI i-stop].)

3.  Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [MZR 2.0 DISI i-stop].)

4.  Remove the battery tray. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.0 DISI i-stop].)

5.  Disconnect the ECT sensor connector.

6.  Remove the ECT sensor. (See ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.0 DISI i-stop].)

7.  Place the ECT sensor in water with a thermometer, and heat the water gradually.

8.  Measure the resistance between ECT sensor terminals A and B.
