Transaxle overheats

DESCRIPTION
•  Burnt smell emitted from transaxle.
•  Smoke is emitted from transaxle.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Engine coolant constriction by oil cooler is considered a possible cause, however overheating from a malfunctioning transaxle fluid temperature (TFT) sensor may also be considered.
•  Excessive CVT agitation (Excessive amount of CVT (continuously variable transaxle) fluid)
―  Control valve body malfunction (Improper operation, stuck, restrict oil line)
•  Line pressure low
•  Oil cooler restriction (Foreign material mixed in CVT (continuously variable transaxle) fluid)
•  Shift control solenoid malfunction
•  Torque converter clutch (TCC) malfunction
•  Burning or seizure of torque converter clutch (TCC)
•  Transaxle fluid temperature (TFT) sensor malfunction
