Diagnostic procedure

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
VERIFY MALFUNCTION SYMPTOM
•  Set up the vehicle according to the following conditions:
―  Switch the ignition to ON.
―  R position (ATX)
―  Reverse gear (MTX)
•  Do the parking sensor buzzer for the emit sound?
Yes
Activate the parking sensor buzzer:
•  System is normal
No
Go to the next step.
2
VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY WIRING HARNESS
•  Verify the condition of the METER (15A) fuse.
•  Is the fuse normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
•  Inspect and repair for the following short circuits:
―  Between METER (15A) and each part receiving power supply
•  After repair, replace the fuse.
3
INSPECT IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS OPEN CIRCUIT TO POWER SUPPLY RELATED WIRING HARNESS
•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Disconnect the parking sensor control module connector.
•  Switch the ignition to ON.
•  Measure the voltage of connector terminal U on the parking sensor control module vehicle wiring harness side.
•  Is the voltage B+?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair the open circuit in the wiring harness.
Verify the connection condition of the ground point, and repair.
4
VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS OPEN CIRCUIT IN PARKING SENSOR CONTROL MODULE GROUND CIRCUIT
•  Leave the parking sensor control module connector disconnected.
•  Verify if there is continuity between the parking sensor control module vehicle side connector terminal Q and body ground.
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair the open circuit in the wiring harness.
Verify the connection condition of the ground point, and repair.
5
VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS R POSITION (ATX), REVERSE (MTX) SIGNAL
•  Switch the ignition to ON.
•  Measure the voltage of parking sensor control module terminal W.
•  Is the voltage normal?
Yes
Replace the parking sensor control module.
No
Go to the next step.
6
INSPECT TR SWITCH (ATX)/BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH (MTX)
•  Inspect the TR switch (ATX)/back-up light switch (MTX).
•  Is the TR switch (ATX)/back-up light switch (MTX) normal?
Yes
Inspect and repair for open or short circuit at followings:
•  Between TR switch (ATX)/back-up light switch (MTX) and parking sensor control module terminal W
•  Between TR switch (ATX)/back-up light switch (MTX) and BCM
•  Between TR switch (ATX)/back-up light switch (MTX) and back-up light
If the wiring harnesses are normal, replace the parking sensor control module.
No
Replace the back-up light switch (MTX)/Transaxle range switch (ATX).
