MALFUNCTION WARNING LIGHT

Purpose
• The malfunction warning light warns the driver that there is a malfunction in the vehicle.
Function
• The instrument cluster illuminates the malfunction warning light when the setting for preventing unnecessary operation of the brake override system is performed.
• The instrument cluster illuminates the malfunction warning light when a malfunction is detected in brake switch No. 1 or No.2.
Construction
• Illumination of the malfunction warning light is controlled by the instrument cluster microcomputer based on the malfunction detection signal from the PCM.
Operation
• The operations until the malfunction warning light illuminates are as follows:
1. Ignition is switched ON.
2. The instrument cluster microcomputer receives (1) the malfunction detection signal from the PCM.
3. The microcomputer continuously turns the transistor on (2) based on the malfunction detection signal.
4. When the transistor is turned on continuously, the malfunction warning light illuminates (3).
