VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (V/C-MODULE) [MAZDA RADAR CRUISE CONTROL (MRCC) SYSTEM]

Purpose
• The vehicle control module (V/C-module) controls the travel speed and the brakes of the detecting vehicle according to the distance between the detecting vehicle and the vehicle ahead.
Function
• The vehicle control module (V/C-module) controls the following systems based on the signals from the radar sensor and each control module.

― Mazda radar cruise control (MRCC) system
― Smart brake support (SBS) system
― Distance recognition support system
Vehicle ahead determination function

• The vehicle control module (V/C-module) estimates the travel path of the detecting vehicle based on the yaw rate signal (vehicle cornering speed) detected from the SAS control module and the steering angle signal and the vehicle speed signal from the EPS control module.
• If multiple target information signals are received from the radar sensor, the system determines the target which is traveling in the estimated path of travel as the vehicle ahead.
On-board diagnostic function

• The vehicle control module (V/C-module) detects dirt and internal malfunctions of the radar sensor, vehicle control module (V/C-module) transmission errors, and vehicle control module (V/C-module) internal malfunctions, and outputs DTCs. For DTC details, refer to ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. (See

Display function

• If a system malfunction is detected, the vehicle control module (V/C-module) notifies the driver of the system malfunction by performing the following controls.

― Flashes MRCC warning light (amber)
― Activates Mazda radar cruise control (MRCC) system warning alarm
• If the radar sensor performance is lowered because the sensor is dirty, the vehicle control module (V/C-module) performs the following controls to warn the driver of the radar sensor malfunction.

― Flashes SBS/SCBS indicator light (amber)
― Activates Mazda radar cruise control (MRCC) system warning alarm
Memory function

• The memory function stores malfunctions detected in the vehicle control module (V/C-module)-related parts using the malfunction detection function, and the stored malfunction contents are not cleared even if the ignition is switched off or the negative battery cable is disconnected.
Construction
• The vehicle control module (V/C-module) is installed below the dashboard on the right side.
