•  The power steering malfunction indicator light is built into the instrument cluster.

Operation

EPS system malfunction detection

•  If the EPS control module (CM) detects a system malfunction, it sends a power steering malfunction indicator light illumination on request signal to the instrument cluster via CAN.

•  The instrument cluster illuminates the power steering malfunction indicator light when it receives a power steering malfunction indicator light illumination on request signal.

Note

•  A warning message in the center display is displayed with the power steering malfunction indicator light turned on or flashed. For the message content and verification method, refer to the CENTER DISPLAY.

Resolver sensor backup control

•  If the EPS CM detects an internal circuit malfunction in the resolver sensor, it sends the power steering malfunction indicator light flashing on request signal to the instrument cluster via CAN.

•  To warn the driver that the EPS assist force is weakening, the instrument cluster flashes the power steering malfunction indicator light when it receives the power steering malfunction indicator light flashing on request signal.

―  If the temperature in the EPS system increases above the specified value, the flashing interval for the power steering malfunction indicator light is shortened to warm the driver.

―  If the temperature in the EPS system increases further, the power steering malfunction indicator light switches from flashing to illumination.

Initial check

•  If the EPS system and CAN lines are normal, it illuminates when the ignition is switched ON (engine off), and turns off after the engine is started. If there is a system malfunction, the power steering malfunction indicator light illuminates.
