BLOWER SYSTEM

Outline

•  The blower system intakes air outside of the vehicle or the cabin, and sends the air passing through the air filter to the A/C unit.

Function

•  Air is blown by the blower motor in the blower system.
•  The blower system switches the air intake port to FRESH or REC based on the position of the air intake door.

Structural View

•  The blower system consists of the following parts.

Operation

Full-auto air conditioner

1.  When the climate control system detects that the airflow volume control switch is on with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on), the climate control unit sends a blower relay on request signal to the front body control module (FBCM).

2.  The front body control module (FBCM) turns the blower relay on based on the blower relay on request signal and, sends a blower relay condition signal to the climate control unit.

Note
•  The front body control module (FBCM) may stop the air conditioner system forcibly after turning the blower relay off due to the battery discharge suppression function.

3.  When the blower motor operation is requested by the airflow volume control switch operation or the automatic control, the climate control unit sends a blower speed signal to the blower fan controller.

4.  When a blower speed signal is received, the blower fan controller rotates the blower motor.

5.  The rotation speed of the blower fan is determined by the transistor in the blower fan controller. If the current value flowing through the blower fan controller is high, the rotation speed increases, if the current value is low, the speed decreases.

6.  When the blower motor rotates, air is taken in from the outside of the vehicle or the cabin.

7.  The air taken in flows in the fresh air direction or recirculate direction according to the operation of the air intake link. The air intake port changes by the movement of the air intake door.

Manual air conditioner (7-speed type airflow volume control dial)

3.  The climate control unit sends a blower speed signal to the blower fan controller according to the airflow volume control dial position.

4.  The blower fan controller controls the blower motor applied voltage and changes the rotation speed of the blower motor based on the blower speed signal.

5.  When the blower motor rotates, air is taken in from the outside of the vehicle or the cabin.

6.  The air taken in flows in the fresh air direction or recirculate direction according to the operation of the air intake link. The air intake port changes by the movement of the air intake door.

Manual air conditioner (4-speed type airflow volume control dial)

1.  When the climate control system detects that the airflow volume control switch is on with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on), the climate control unit sends a blower relay on request signal to the front body control module (FBCM).

2.  The front body control module (FBCM) turns the blower relay on based on the blower relay on request signal.

Note
•  The front body control module (FBCM) may stop the air conditioner system forcibly after turning the blower relay off due to the battery discharge suppression function.

3.  The combined resistance of the blower motor circuit changes according to the airflow volume control dial position. The voltage applied to the blower motor is changed by the change in the combined resistance of the blower motor circuit, which in turn changes the blower motor rotation speed.

5.  The air taken in flows in the fresh air direction or recirculate direction according to the operation of the air intake link. The air intake port changes by the movement of the air intake door.
