Function

•  Fogging on the rear window glass is removed by heating the rear window glass using the rear window defroster filaments to vaporize moisture on the window.

Personalization features

•  The rear window defroster operation time setting can be changed (initial setting is 15 minutes). Refer to the [GLASS/WINDOWS/MIRRORS PERSONALIZATION] for details on personalization features. (With GLASS/WINDOWS/MIRRORS PERSONALIZATION) (See GLASS/WINDOWS/MIRRORS PERSONALIZATION.)

Construction

Operation

Full-auto air conditioner

1.  When the rear window defroster switch on the climate control unit is turned on, an ON/OFF control request signal is sent to the front body control module (FBCM) through the instrument cluster as a CAN signal.

2.  When the front body control module (FBCM) receives the ON/OFF control request signal, it supplies the battery voltage to the rear window defroster relay.

3.  When the battery voltage is supplied to the rear window defroster relay, a switch inside the rear window defroster relay is turned on.

4.  When the switch inside the rear window defroster relay is turned on, the battery voltage is supplied to the rear window defroster/heated outer mirrors to operate them.

Note
•  When approx. 15 min. has elapsed after the rear window defroster switch was turned on, the timer control of the front body control module (FBCM) turns off the rear window defroster relay automatically to turn off the rear window defroster/heated outer mirror.
•  When the rear window defroster switch is pressed while the rear window defroster/heated outer mirrors are operating, they stop operating.
Rear window defroster operation time is set to Continuous

5.  When approx. 15 min have elapsed since the front body control module (FBCM) received the rear window defroster operation request signal, it receives an ambient temperature signal from the PCM, and if the PCM detects an ambient temperature of 0 °C or less, the front body control module (FBCM) continues supplying power to the rear window defroster relay. (Ambient temperature of 0 °C or less detected)
6.  When approx. 15 min have elapsed since the front body control module (FBCM) received the rear window defroster operation request signal, it receives an ambient temperature signal from the PCM, if the PCM detects an ambient temperature of 1 °C or more, the front body control module (FBCM) stops supplying power to the rear window defroster and the rear window defroster operation is stopped. (Ambient temperature of 1 °C or more detected)
