Purpose, Function

With headlight manual leveling system

• The headlight leveling actuator drives the motor using the electrical current from the headlight leveling switch to change the optical axis of the headlights.

With headlight auto leveling system

• The headlight leveling actuator drives the motor based on the target optical axis voltage, which is input from the auto leveling control module/AFS control module, to change the optical axis of the headlights.

Construction

• Built into the front combination lights.

• Consists of a motor which expands/retracts the shaft, a shaft, and a microcomputer which calculates the shaft expansion/contraction amount.

Operation

With headlight manual leveling system

1. The headlight leveling actuator drives the motor using the electrical current from the headlight leveling switch until the optical axis reaches the target optical axis position.

2. When the motor is driven, the shaft moves back and forth and the reflector moves to change the optical axis.

With headlight auto leveling system

1. The headlight leveling actuator calculates the motor drive amount based on the target optical axis signal from the auto leveling control module/AFS control module and drives the motor until the headlight reaches the target optical axis.

2. When the motor is driven, the shaft moves back and forth and the reflector moves to change the optical axis.
