• When the engine coolant temperature is below 75.0 °C {167 °F}, the valve closes and lets the engine coolant circulate inside the engine to improve engine warming performance. When the engine coolant temperature is between 80 °C {176 °F} to 84 °C {183 °F}, the thermostat begins to open the valve and engine coolant flows to the radiator to stabilize engine coolant temperature.
