Engine Tune-up Preparation

1.  Set the shift lever to the neutral position.

2.  Start the engine and warm up completely.

3.  Turn off all electrical loads with the engine idling.

4.  If the cooling fans are operating, wait until they stop.

5.  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

6.  Verify that no DTC is present.

Idle Speed Inspection

Note

•  Idle speed is not adjustable.

•  Idle speed verification requires M-MDS.

1.  Perform “Engine Tune-up Preparation”. (See Engine Tune-up Preparation.)

2.  Verify that the idle speed (M-MDS: RPM PID) is within the specification using M-MDS.

•  If not as specified, inspect the following.

―  Suction control valve

―  Fuel injector

―  Accelerator pedal position sensor

―  Engine coolant temperature sensor

―  Fuel pressure sensor

―  Camshaft position sensor

―  Crankshaft position sensor
