• Continuous exposure to USED engine oil has caused skin cancer in laboratory mice. Protect your skin by washing with soap and water immediately after working with engine oil.
1. Remove the oil pump. (See OIL PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR-CD 2.2].)
2. Disassemble the oil pump. (See OIL PUMP DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY [MZR-CD 2.2].)
3. Measure the tip clearance between the inner rotor and the outer rotor using a feeler gauge.

• If it exceeds the specification, replace the inner rotor or the outer rotor, or the both.

Oil pump rotor tip clearance

0.04—0.18 mm {0.002—0.007 in}
4. Measure the body clearance between the outer rotor and the oil pump body using a feeler gauge.

• If it exceeds the specification, replace the outer rotor or oil pump body, or both.

Oil pump rotor body clearance

0.10—0.19 mm {0.004—0.007 in}
5. Measure the side clearance using a straight edge and a feeler gauge.

• If it exceeds the specification, replace the inner rotor or oil pump body, or the both.

0.04—0.10 mm {0.002—0.003 in}
