CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR INSPECTION [MZR 1.8, MZR 2.0, MZR 2.5]

Visual Inspection

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2.  Remove the CMP sensor. (See CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.8, MZR 2.0, MZR 2.5].)

3.  Verify that there are no metal shavings on the sensor.

•  Remove any metal shavings that are adhering.

Voltage Inspection

1.  Idle the engine.

2.  Measure the CMP sensor output wave pattern using an oscilloscope. (See PCM INSPECTION [MZR 1.8, MZR 2.0, MZR 2.5])

•  If not within the specification, replace the CMP sensor. (See CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.8, MZR 2.0, MZR 2.5].)
